Smoke. A Sign of Engine Problems

We can tell by the color of smoke coming from your exhaust about the type of engine problem you're having.
WHITE SMOKE - Damaged cylinder heads or blown head gaskets will give off white smoke through your exhaust system. If this is happening to your car, we need to remove the cylinder head to see how bad the damage is and to figure out a cost for repair or replacement. BLACK SMOKE - Black smoke typically means your engine is running rich. You probably just need to have your fuel system looked at for repair. BLUE SMOKE - Blue smoke coming from your tailpipe is caused by the engine oil burning due to wear of the engine seals. A complete engine diagnosis would be needed to determine if the damage is from the top of the engine or the bottom of the engine. |
